UniUkiyo was founded by Marina Micanovic in 2012, shortly after her graduation from the “Italian Academia del Lusso” where she exhibited her thesis fashion collection at Belgrade Fashion Week and Serbia Fashion Week.
Her big breakthrough came in 2016 when her Autumn/Winter collection was selected for the New York Fashion Week and received great reviews. She was invited again to present for the Spring/Summer 2017 New York Fashion Week (NYFW).
Marina was given the incredible opportunity to present her collection at the Paris Fashion Week as well as the NYFW in the same year. In September 2020, Marina participated and showcased her work in the new online international fashion event, International Digital Fashion Week.
Marina is a fashion designer who creates bold, one-of-a-kind, and extravagant designs fueled by her strong passion and love for the fashion industry. Her drive for perfection and attention to detail can be appreciated in all of her handmade designs.
She is inspired by all the free nomads around the world who dare to be authentic and wear designs unique to them. She greatly admires people that are different and follow their own path.
You might wonder now what does “UniUkiyo” mean? In Japanese, the word is used to describe an urban world that is constantly moving, evolving, flowing, and changing. For those who know Marina, that is exactly who she is – a river that never stops changing course as it flows.
