WHITE AND ITS MANY INTERPREPTATIONS IN FASHION

In this next blog, I want to talk with you about the symbolism and significance of colors. I’m going to start with my favorite color of all, one loaded with meaning: white.

We all know that white is pure. White is joy. Freshness. Well-being. In many different cultures and countries, white has a special purpose, but its general symbolism is lightness. White has a purpose in parts of everyday life, even those you would overlook. For example, it is useful in product advertising and marketing because when used as a background, it provides the best view of the product. In medicine, there is a reason we see doctors and surgeons in white lab coats: it makes them recognizable for their skills and expertise and invokes a sense of cleanliness.

When looking at fashion, white can translate into an eternity of interpretations. There are endless associations, all of them symbolic and cultural. One might think of white as being an aristocratic color. It instills wealth and high sophistication. White also signifies innocence, and the most obvious case of this is wedding gowns. In many cultures, a white dress is worn on the day of the wedding to signify purity, although I am personally a supporter of the alternative. White implies the opportunity for new beginnings – across the color wheel, white always appears first. It is a fresh start and the chance for something spotless and immaculate.

Another interpretation of white is progress. For this reason, I always advise at least one piece of clothing in white, especially if we are about to make new decisions and in times where we need to keep our energy up and remain focused. It is great for lifting moods and for energy. Along similar lines, one of the more interesting traits to white is that it negates fatigue and lack of stamina. We all have those days when energy is at a minimum, when tiredness is visible on our face, and yet we still have so much to do and overcome. On these days, I suggest an overall white look with very simple and minimalist makeup. How you feel surrounded and clothed by white will bring you lightness and rejuvenation. You will find yourself armed against our greatest daily enemy: tiredness.

White inspires courage and confidence, and that most of all, we should trust ourselves. White opens us up to new aspirations and goals. However, due to its neutrality, I think that white should always be combined with another color, which will not only add an appealing contrast, but will also make it more stylish. For tips on what to pair white with, recall minimalism. A popular trend today, it most often implies that in addition to black, you should introduce a neutral white.

In terms of fashion, white is mostly worn during the summer, although in my opinion, it should be desired in winter as well and not confined to just one season. It is true that it is not the most efficient of colors because it “gets dirty” quickly, but this is one of the questions I often think about, which is, would it not be just as dirty if on black? But because white reveals all, I think of it as representing Truth when I consider this dilemma of color theory. Of course, this does not mean that if we wear black, that there is no ‘truth’ to it in symbolic terms, but black definitely has more mysticism, mystery, and a starkly different symbolism interwoven. You see here that all colors have their own implications and interpretations.

As you know from reading my blogs, I am a firm believer that our personality and inner state are always connected to the external behaviors that we demonstrate. With this in mind, I suggest that you look at the changes that are happening to you and around you that you may not be entirely aware of. Take a closer look and ask how these changes correlate with your current state or frame of mind and then your colors and clothing. We bring our mood with us wherever we go, and the symbolism of colors is always there to describe us a little to those we meet.

While researching colors and their healing effect on us, I was reminded many times of non-verbal communication, because how we feel on the inside expresses itself not just through clothing, but also through colors. It might not happen on all days, but you should find comfort by allowing some white in on those days that you feel you need a boost. White will definitely bring you that.

I will admit that this color sometimes requires courage to wear, but my attitude towards fashion is that sometimes we find ourselves wanting a break from the already established trends. It is important to try something new because maybe you are ready for change without really knowing. And that’s why I suggest beginning your journey and growth with White.

FUNCTIONAL AND ORIGINAL ASPECTS IN CLOTHING STYLE

What is functional, and what is original? And can those two get along?

Quite often we witness functional style, that means wearability and ease of combining with other garments, which in the world of fashion usually implies commercial line. Commercial line has conquered the world entirely, and today it is probably most wanted. It is very accessible, in every manner of speaking. Other side of the coin, when it comes to commercial style, is seeing a huge number of people on the streets, dressed in the same or similar way. Given that, trends are not completely acceptable to my opinion, but, having in mind the current offer, it seems that trend remains as the only solution.

Originality in my works takes a special, actually, the first place. Vision, from which it all departs, is something that I enjoy the most, all through the process of realization of final product. Exactly this expectation of the closing result is what I could call the positive stress. A small dose of this euphoria, which always carries me while I am working, is enough for the inspiration which, then, rises the most.

To be original requires, above all, being your true self. We express what we hold inside in different ways, certainly through art. Someone’s medium for self-expression might be dance, or painting, and it frequently is clothing.

Original and functional can definitely go together. Choice of quality fabrics and clear idea are the winning combination. Outfits that stand out are those that can be worn in different ways, the so-called “multipractic” items.

The aspect of aesthetics, whatever the clothing style is, stands to be the most authoritative; of course, together with the feeling of comfort, faith in one’s self and smile out of pleasure.
